FANATIC
I was browsing over some pages at PBA.com and I came across this article and it was so funny because it was well thought of and it is right on the money. Come see for yourself >>> James Yap + Marc Pingris + Kerby Raymundo = Alvin Patrimonio.

By the time I get back here in Manila next month, my trip to the gym will be reduced to zero. Ive decided to do all the trainings and programs that my trainer and nutritionist have given me all by myself for three months. Its gonna be tough I know and Im doing this to test myself if I have to the guts to do it kapag natuloy na ang trip palabas ng bansa. Im crossing my fingers on both though.

My flight to siargao is eight hours from now and I havent packed anything yet besides the fruit that I’ll be bringing along. My honey texted me few hours ago that classes are already suspended and my flight might possibly be cancelled. Hmm lets see in a few hours.

Giant

Friday, July 21st, 2006

While writing this one, Im having trouble speaking clearly
after the shouts and cheer that I and Apple did during the Game 6 of the PBA
Finals between PF Giants and Red Bull Barakos. I think my tonsils were a bit
stretched during the see-saw game. My honey laughingly added that it was a
"testosterone-charged event" she’s watching.
So it was a typical Friday nite where every road in the metro is stucked up
with traffic and you can only thank the MRT’s for your survival while taking
the daily commute.
Game time was set at around 7:10pm, the place: Araneta Center in Cubao. Damn traffic, me and Apple got in around 7:45 just in time for the
2nd quarter. The score was 36-18 in favor of the Giants.
It was an amazing experience for me since its my first time to watch a
championship game of my favorite team. There’s always a first for everyone and
I was blown away by the experience together with the other PF fans. PF Fans (us
included) were shouting in unison " Boo" for every Red Bull Player in
the freethrow area, "DEFENSE" when RedBull tries to make a comeback,
"wuhoo/yahoo/yehey" for every possession and shots made by the GIANTS
and "MVP! MVP!" when James Yap took his free throw. The plan worked,
the Giants won the finals against all odds and claimed their 4th All Filipino
Championship Trophy.

By the way, here are the pics that we took:

We thought that after the game has ended, so as our photo op with the Giants. I mean we were upstairs and there is no way that we’d be able to meet champions (yeah, like we know them huh?…NOT!). So we extended our date within the area and ate our dinner at the nearby Tapa King.
After eating and chatting, we strolled around to go to the nearby taxi lane and to our surprise, my childhood idol, Alvin "The Captain" Patrimonio is on the parking lot having his pics taken with a lot of PF Fans. So my honey and I rushed to see if we will be fortunate to have ours taken and look at what I got:

After many years of trying, finally I got the chance of standing side by side with Alvin and my honey took our pics and man, Alvin was so generous and kind to lend us a bit. My honey was starstruck and so was I.(heheheheh).

Im looking forward to see my team perform when the new conference starts on Oct 1. Way to go Giants!

By the way, I hope to see you guys soon as I get back from Siargao. Ill post some of the pics from the sights there too.

take care y’all

Rockstar_supernova_1
While doing this blog, I am playing ROCK STAR A Night at the Mayan Theater on my iPOD.

At this early I have to say that the contestants from Rockstar:INXS are still better from the new roster of "wanna-be" on Rockstar:SUPERNOVA. I mean, last year’s batch was a mixture of accomplished and matured musicians before they auditioned the show.

However, I have to say that Im also excited on the new format that Rockstar:SUPERNOVA has to offer. I mean Rockstar:INXS is very different from this season because of one thing: INXS is already an established band and they just need somebody to fill in the shoes left by Michael Hutchence and SUPERNOVA is a new band seeking for a voice to represent them. On the first few scenes of the first episode, I can almost here a new sound emerging from these three guys (Jason,Gilby,Tommy). The melodies are impeccable and recognizable. Its not Alternative and not Heavy Metal. The sound is emerging to be a Heavy Rock n Roll and I enjoyed it.

So, I saw the 2nd episode last nite and there were some songs borrowed from last season like  Bob Dylan’s Knockin on Heaven’s Door, Janis Joplin’s Piece of my Heart and Living Colour’s Cult of Personality. I have to  say that Jordis Unga’s take on on "Knockin.." is far better than Toby Rand’s and Ty Taylor’s version of Cult of Personality is far superior from what Ive seen last nite when it was sang by Phil Ritchie.

One interesting observation though, Billy Joel’s "Rebel Yell" inclusion on the list performed by Lukas
and The Black Crowes "She Talks to Angels" done by Josh. Im also not sure if Tommy Lee and Jason Newsted are high or not because of continous head banging after each commercial enjoying their first track. But SUPERNOVA’s comments are dead-on, they pack a mean punch.

I think what Im gonna be missing from this new season are the "classic rock playlist" like the ones did by Rolling Stone, Queen, Pink Floyd, The Kinks among others. Honestly I dunno what’s in store but I think these three plus Mark Burnett are preparing some new surprises like when the bottom three song choices are based on the people there on the bottom. They have to prove to Supernova that they can rock with songs they have prepared for them. (their music, their choice, their death and their resolution.)

I have all summer to watch this show and hell yeah Im so prepared for it and I’ll be the first guy to buy the album on November.

Im also watching that INXS concert on Aug15. So ill be saving money starting tomorrow.

Rockstar Supernova
As expected, A new Rockstar is gonna be shown this summer in US with Tommy Lee, Gilbey Clarke & Jason Newsted in tow for the 2nd Installment by Mark Burnett. I hope to see talented people tomorrow morning.

Purefoods Chunkee Giants Vs. Redbull Barakos
I watched in complete happiness on how the Giants beat the crap out of Alaska Aces (stories 1,2,3). Indeed it was a great comeback, imagine ur down 0-2 then dumped and laughed at 1-3 and then being able to beat your rival in submission as expressed in Roumela Cantara’s article which you can reach at Mel’s Aces Fan Blog. Im hoping that the streak continues coz I dont like Yeng Guiao’s kids because they are one hell of a team and because THE ALL FILIPINO CROWN belongs to Purefood Chunkee Giants.

Now, will somebody give me two tickets please? I wanna watch Game One live.
Thanks in advance.

CSI- Tri season donwload complete.
At last I’m done downloading the latest episodes of CSI, CSI Miami and CSI New York. Now I have to do some spring cleaning on my hard drives.

FRANCE caught french kissing the Brazilians goodbye!
I was a witness on how the last few mins of soccer can be exciting. I think I saw how France french-kissed the Brazilian players goodbye from the FIFA World Cup. It was enjoyable since they just beat the World Champions. Last I heard was that the Brazilian fans were throwing tomatoes at the Brazilian Team when they got back.

Subic Explosion

I was at Subic yesterday and it was a nice place to see after 12 years. Of course it was work related together with the Chevron People. Here are the pics:

Superman Revisited

Ok so there I was watching Superman Returns with Apple inside SM Mall of Asia’s cinema and here are my findings about the movie.

1. Its interesting how Bryan Singer, Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris spinned off some of the loose ends from Superman 1-4. I commend them for sticking with the original Superman and how a Superman story should be told (i.e. Dorky Clark Kent, Fashionably Gay Lex Luthor, majestic cinematography, Updated main titles, Updated Soundtrack which I think wrapped it all up). Honestly, I think that it should not have been Superman Returns but Superman Revisited.

2. Character Buildup. I have to tell you frankly that this is where Bryan Singer sucks big time. Like his previous storytelling on X-men and X-men 2, it kinda rubbed on me that Bryan Singer idolizes Ron Howard and Steven Spielberg in building up the story behind the characters. Maybe its just me but i think Im right here.

3. Keeping up with the suspense. This is also one of Bryan Singer’s major flaw. Maybe he should learn how to tell suspense and use it to the main character’s advantage. Maybe he should learn from M. NIght Shyamalan’s depiction of the movie "Unbreakable" where the existence of a hero/anti-hero was explained.

All in all, the movie was a fresh take on the character which brings us the question what would have happened if Tim Burton’s story of a black superman was filmed. Tim Burton is an amazing re-teller of stories. His visions are bleak but the stories are firm.

Anyway, while we were out enjoying the movie, Marvel Comics/Fox has just released the preview of yet another comic movie which I think many of us has learned to appreciate, Spiderman 3. You can go to http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_pictures/spider-man_3/ and see how Spidey starts fighting with Sandman, Hobgoblin and himself!(yes my friend, with himself. The alien symbiote was included in the movie I dont know if Venom is in the offing though…you can check it out from this website —>>).Bring in along the BLACK SPIDERMAN.

Also you can check out another Marvel Superhero in this website that Im going to give you (ball of fire)

The Grand Finale - Game 7 for 4 PBA Teams

Do or die is the more fitting word to describe for all teams. Im hoping to see Purefoods Chunkee Giants on Wednesday battling it out with whoever for the Fiesta Conference. Game on!
