Yesterday I was with my brother and cousin and drove our pick up truck to Subic Bay Zambales and I couldnt help but make some observations and remember some postcripts from my past roadtrips. You see, I used to do lengthy trips either by commute or driving alone (which I thought wasnt really risky back then but it was!) when leisure or business calls for it.
1. (used to be) Indie Rock bands to Popular Bands endorsing either shampoo, deodorants and soap. Does this mean that they have cleaned up their acts and recommending hygiene to their fans?? hmmmm
2. Sunday Variety shows on TV (which I think sucks really) where so non singers (like Gabby Eigenman and Richard Gomez) sings and make mess of their featured guest band. I mean, cmon cant they just make the stage bigger and have the band perform by itself and showcase their talents?
These variety shows (SOP/ASAP) have also the tendency to overload their fucking shows with personalities (TALENTED SINGERS, HAS-BEENS, ARTISTAS TRYING TO RESUSCITATE THEIR CAREERS AND NON TALENTED PERSONS ALIKE), jologs guests, commercials that will make you (YES YOU CONSUMERS OUT THERE!!!) to buy and get the glory and envy of your friends for having a longer and straighter hair and nice smelling armpits. Thats why I enjoy watching cable.
In this day and age, what was lacking with us filipinos is the sense of accountability and responsibility. I am so ashamed to admit it but unluckily I am part of this race and I vowed myself that I will fill up this deficiency. A recent oil spill on Guimaras keeps me up all nite thinking what Petron will do on the situation. (Yeah, Petron is owned by us PInoys) Pardon me for this observation (lalo na to my friends in Petron Corp) but Im aghast to this article that they are peddling on the street :PETRON DENIES ACCOUNTABILITY ON OIL SPILL which to me is bullshit.
Had it been on other companies like Chevron Corp or Shell, Im sure they will own the incident and will make steps to further prevent future catastrophies. Ive been a novice safety professional and I can tell you upfront that these guys will clean it up and be responsible for paying up the government to restore the reef that was destroyed down there. Nakakaawa naman yung mga tao dun.
I can hear my former old boss in DMCI (that would be Luis C. Pastor) saying " KAWAWA NAMAN ANG PINOY, KINAKAWAWA NG SARILI NYANG LAHI KAYA HINDI TAYO UMUUNLAD"
I cant agree more…
How about you? Does this mistake and unfortunate event has awakened some of your wits and reason?
I caught RS:Supernova’s latest episode and I gotta tell you, last year’s batch is definitely different from this year. The media is meaner, singers are louder, songs are getting classier to weird, originals are getting better.
Man, cant wait to know who’s gonna grab it but my money is on 4 people:Dilana, Magni, Toby and Ryan.
Hmm which leaves me, where can I go to grab some mp3’s…where to where to?
lets find out after this!
Yeah baby, Me and Apple had fun from last nite’s concert. I mean who would have thought that our seats will become upgraded from Upper Box B down to the patron seats. Who could have imagined that right?
First and foremost, I honestly think that The Dawn, after 20 years, should have a major concert and I will be watching it. The era of pocket concerts should be set aside right now for the rockers of the old to enjoy the pinoy classics.
Then there’s MiG Ayesa. For those women who missed the gig, you missed a lot. My honey, who is a self confessed MiG fan said that when he took off his shirt it was like something "makalaglag panty" and my friend Wiwi approves of it

Then came the main event. Man, I never thought they were that loud. There’s nothing like it to hear a band live than the one on the tapes/CD’s. I enjoyed the show. Really.
Im still praying that somebody brings Audioslave here.
I thought about bloggin before I head down to the show and share to you my thoughts about the 8pm gig later. Sorry if I sounded like im the one who is gonna perform but I think this the most perfect reward for a rock fan like myself dont cha think?
Anyway, this is gonna be my 2nd rock concert to attend after a decade.I mean, the last time I went to one (foreign rock band) was the concert of Def Leppard when the Vault and Slang album came out. I think that was June 96. I need to freshen up on my rock roots when I watch the INXS Switched On Tour later tonite.
Last sunday I was at the Mall of Asia together with Apple to meet and greet MiG Ayesa. Unfortunately the organizers only permitted 30 people to join MiG on the stage and we were the 32nd on the line.
Here are the pics that I took and I hope you like it. Ill post some concert fotos tomorrow on my INXS postscript blog:
I caught Rockstar Supernova’s latest elimination and I gotta tell you that this was a shocker. Like last season, there were two heads that was taken off from the 10 rockers. Ryan Starr,Josh Logan and Jill Gioia was at the bottom three. At the end of performances, Josh and Jill was cut off from the show leaving Ryan safe from the crackdown.
Honestly, I think the three shuoldve been cut off during the night.
I hate the showmanship of Ryan Starr coz he is all talk no walk person and his rendition of Paint it Black registered -5 on the rock dial. Whenever he performs Its like like Adam Sandler singing on stage.
Josh Logan, well like he said on his initial interview, he likes funk/soul and he’s not the perfect fit for Supernova. But I was surprised when he sang "Shooting Star" by Bad Company. Had he moved to get the audience support by going to the front stage and waved his hands like Bryan adams, that would have killed it. BUt I guess Shooting Star was a perfect goodbye song.
Jill Gioia, she’s a screamer, talker and small. She aint no Pamela Anderson and Aretha Franklin but the RESPECT rendition was flat out good. nuff said.
Right now, Im placing my bet on 3 people whom I think that’s gonna be the frontman of Supernova: Magni
Dilana
Toby Rand
Everybody else is a sacrificial lamb.
Its starting to get interesting coz all rock classics are being performed (Rolling Stones, Bad Company, John Lennon/ The Beatles). I cant wait to hear something from AC/DC or Led Zeppelin on the playlist.
Tonite’s episode of RS Supernova is definitely up a notch from last week.
The playlist was (as borrowed from RS INXS lineup):
Dilana rocking with Gilbey Clark on "We wont get fooled again"
Jill Gioia lapping it up with "Mother,Mother"
Ryan Starr on Rolling Stones Paint it Black
Storm Large’s version of the Queen’s "We are the Champions"
Zayra sang something else
Josh Logan rocked surprisingly with Tommy Lee on STP’s Interstate Love Song.
Magni sang "When the dolphins cry" by Live
Patrice Pike rocked weak on John Lennon’s "Instant Karma"
Lukas Rossi rocked with restraint on Radiohead’s Creep
Toby Rand’s take on Burning down the House was good, very good until he used a megaphone
Bottom Three wish list:
I want Patrice, Jill and Lukas to be on the bottom three so that they will have to perform for their lives tomorrow. I wanna see them rock.
Yeah baby guess who’s back
